Marko Rankel, the Executive Chef of Sofitel Philippine Plaza since November 2008 has brought one of Accor’s biggest Sofitel Worldwide hotel situated in the lavish sea landscape in Metro Manila to the next level. He has created an entirely new a la carte all day dining menus for Room Service and served at the world famous Spiral Buffet, Philippine’s longest and interactive buffet that features worldwide cuisines, and another three more well acclaimed restaurants. The Spiral Buffet has been a favorite restaurant among the local politicians and they have become frequent guests, including the Honorable president and vice-president of the country.

Chef Marko devotion and dedication in delivering only the finest food, exquisite presentation and excellent service that he is known for have provided his assistants and trainees the knowledge in becoming best in their careers. It is Chef Marko’s goal to be able to effectively and consistently mold young aspiring chefs and guide them in both administrative and kitchen work. Chef together with his team, has successfully catered to Manila’s socialite and political clans namely Madame Imelda Marcos. Significant international events such as the Al Gore Environment Forum, French Bastille Day, Egypt’s Independence Day, Tony Blair, and the recently held GM’s Accor Asia Pacific, and countless numerous Weddings and other banquet functions were all executed with the highest of standards consistently by Sofitel Manila’s Culinary team headed by Chef Marko’s strong leadership. Aside from mentioned events catered, Chef has personally attended guests like the heads of states and world renowned entertainments artists. Chef’s ingenuity in creating dishes and items which both showcases European and Asian flair has kept the guests surprised and amazed every time. Sofitel Philippine Plaza can cater to over more than 5000 pax in-house banquet events, excluding outside caterings which includes several State’s Embassy functions (United States, France, Saudi Arabia and etc..). Marko’s team is consists of over 160 kitchen employees who trains under chef’s supervision.

Today, Chef Marko continuously imparts his craft to his team. He is still very amazed on the varieties of ingredients found in Asia and is currently developing new exciting and innovative dishes for everyone to enjoy.
